• 54-year-old Sir Laurence Olivier had an affair with 19-year-old Sarah Miles during filming.
• This movie is Terence Stamp's second film. The first, Billy Budd (1962), was however released after this film in it being deemed noncommercial due to its tragic ending. His performance in Term of Trial (1962) was overshadowed by his turn in the title role of Billy Budd the same year, for which he received an Oscar® nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He was known in the 1960s as the typical angry young man.
