Despite having being billed third and above the title in the main credits, Sir Michael Redgrave only has three scenes. Redgrave made this film at a time when he needed to make some money rather quickly because of a tax demand, and Stephen Boyd recommended strongly that he be cast; Redgrave had been a great help to Boyd when the latter was a struggling actor.

This movie was released in the U.S. on a double-bill with Torture Garden (1967).

Jan Werich was dubbed.
