• T.P. McKenna was cast in the role of Dr. Henry Barlow by Director and star Sidney Poitier. However, after the scenes were filmed, Poitier decided to recast George Baker, and the relevant scenes were reshot.

• Professional moto-cross racer Malcolm Dearn doubled for Sidney Poitier for the motorcycle racing scenes. Dearn, who was tragically killed on his motorcycle by a drunk driver in 2007, being white, had to wear makeup to have some resemblance to Poitier despite having his face hidden by a protective mask in the scenes.

• Twice has Sidney Poitier played a character with the last name of Younger: as Walter Younger in A Raisin in the Sun (1961) and as Dr. Matt Younger in this film.
