⢠The famous final scene was serendipity for the film. The camera was supposed to track into the back of the truck, which would then depart. After panning around to look back at the diner, it was going to explode. However, the special effects man activated the explosion too soon, while the camera was still panning, reflecting it onto a highway sign. At the release, many of the audience members commented that not showing the explosion fully was the strongest part of the scene.
⢠The movie score is by German synthesizer pioneer Klaus Schulze, with tracks from the albums DIG IT, BODY LOVE, DUNE and "X.".
⢠Charles McCallum improvised the story about his character Lance serving in the armed forces during a war.
