• Borrows some elements from the 1939 film version, such as the silver shoes being red (albeit being metallic instead of ruby) and Oz being over the rainbow (even though the rainbow being a "bridge" to Oz was also in the books to begin with, but not the first one).
• Dorothy's voice actress Mari Okamoto had already voiced the character, dubbing Judy Garland in the 1974 Japanese TV dub of The Wizard of Oz (1939).
