• Set sometime prior to the events Casablanca (1942), though it breaks continuity with the film in that Rick Blaine has already met Strasser and Heinz in the TV series. Ilsa Lund is mentioned in passing in one episode.
• Although Warner Brothers originally released the 1942 film, they did not own the rights to it when the series aired. Those rights were held by United Artists, which had just been purchased by MGM. Pre-1950 WB films were among the MGM assets Turner Entertainment acquired in 1986, before becoming part of WB in 1996.
