‱ The haunting original score is written in the style of Estonian composer Avro PĂ€rt (in particular PĂ€rt's piece "Fratres" in its version as three-part music with solo variations: 1980 for violin and piano)

‱ The book on which the film is based was published in 1982 to strong critical acclaim. The novel sold really well and also won an important French literary prize: the Prix Femina.

‱ It was Francis Mankiewicz who was originally supposed to direct the film, but he left the project following a dispute with the producers.
