During this production shoot on location in the Philipines, a Philipine Air Force helicopter hired by the Cannon Film Group, crashed into Manila Bay killing four Filipino soldiers and wounding five other people. Curiously enough, this accident occurred the same day the "Twilight Zone Tragedy" verdict was handed down in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Joseph Zito, director of Missing in Action (1984) and Invasion U.S.A. (1985) originally was the director on Braddock: Missing In Action III. He and Chuck Norris had creative and personal differences and Aaron Norris, who was the second unit director, took over as director.

Chuck Norris threatened to sue Cannon pictures in what he felt was the mishandling of the film for its theatrical release. Cannon was going through financial struggles then and had put little effort to heavily promote or market the film, which Norris had felt was the strongest film he had done up until then.
