• Elaine Miles won the part of Marilyn Whirlwind by accident. She accompanied her mother, Armenia Miles, who was auditioning for the part of Marilyn, and they cast Elaine instead.
• The mural for Roslyn's Café in the opening credits is an actual café. The apostrophe and an S was added in since the show is supposed to take place in Cicely, Alaska. After the show was completed, the apostrophe and the S was removed from the mural. Despite its prominence in the opening credits, Roslyn's Cafè is never featured in any episodes.
• Set in the fictional town of Cicely, Alaska, but shot in Roslyn, Washington. Characters named Roslyn and Cicely appear on the series as the founders of the town.
