• Orion Pictures licensed the scene where RoboCop (Peter Weller) discharges his weapon into a wall to form an outline around a smoker's head for use as a theatrical public service announcement. This promotional segment played in North American cinemas during the 1990 summer movie season. The studio distributed the clip specifically to theaters maintaining non-smoking policies to reinforce local regulations via the character's line, "Thank you for not smoking."

• The RoboCop suit for this film was constructed purely of FiberGlass. This allowed Peter Weller far more freedom in terms of movement and gave the suit a far more metallic look.
