When he hears the rumor that a famous professor is working on a time machine, he immediately contacts him and persuades him to allow him to travel back in time and correct history. If he could save President Kennedy's life, the Vietnam war might never have happened.

Tippit was an American police officer in Dallas who was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald about 45 minutes after the assassination of JFK on 23 Nov 1963. Tippit was shot dead in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was initially arrested for this crime prior to being charged with killing President Kennedy. Oswald was charged with both crimes shortly after his arrest but was killed by Jack Ruby two days later.
