According to an October 17, 2017 New Yorker interview with Molly Ringwald, Harvey Weinstein ordered additional scenes filmed, scenes not from Graham Greene's source material. This movie was completely taken away from Director James Scott, recut, and retitled. The movie flopped. Ringwald later sued, and won, for her promised percentage of the gross.

The last theatrical movie of Marius Goring (Blixon).

First adult role for Molly Ringwald. In her previous (post-John Hughes) films she had played teens dealing with adult situations.
