Did you know
• Has almost the exact same plot as "Alice", based on "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore": A woman with a bad marriage leaves to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer, and finds a waitress job on the way.
• Before the series aired, a commercial featured one of the cast members showing Burke how to hold a tray to wait tables. Burke gets irritated and questions why she should have to carry trays if she's the star of the show. Her fellow cast member says, "But, Delta, what if this show doesn't make it?" Burke thinks for a moment, then continues with the lesson. The joke proved prophetic: the show was canceled after one season.
• Ellen DeGeneres was considered for the role of Lavonne before Gigi Rice but she turned down their offer so she was cast in another failed ABC sitcom Laurie Hill (1992). Paula Marshall and Courteney Cox was also considered.
