• Heinz Schubert's part of Dr. Erich Fink was originally played by Klaus Schwarzkopf. The actor didn't want to delay the shooting schedule and filmed his scenes although he was suffering from pneumonia. During on-location shootings in Bochum, he collapsed and was sent to a hospital, where he died on June 21, 1991.
