• The series started out as a Washington political satire taking place in a Senator's office, then changed to a small-town newspaper office.
• Although he had already appeared in several off-Broadway productions of "Sling Blade", this was Billy Bob Thornton's first big project, and his first collaboration with best friend John Ritter, who would later appear in the gothic thriller classic "Sling Blade" (the film).
• As of October 24, 2022, following the death of Leslie Jordan, the only surviving main cast members are Billy Bob Thornton, Beth Broderick, and Clark Duke.
