While filming the fight scene about halfway into the movie, Dolph Lundgren pulled a hamstring in his leg while delivering a spinning back kick. Due to complications regarding his stunt double, he would have to perform much of the action in a great deal of discomfort.

US distributor Miramax removed 15 minutes for the film's stateside direct-to-video release through their Dimension Films division (this is this shorter version that was also released theatrically in France). A lot of character-development scenes were cut to make the film more action-orientated. During the end credits, the studio also removed composer Stefano Mainetti's excellent score and replaced it with the dance/house song from the night club scene.

It was initially taking place and set to be filmed in Paris, France and it was then rewritten to fit Prague.
