โข The name of the character Auntie Macassar is a play on the term "antimacassar," which refers (fittingly for a "big comfy couch") to a cloth placed on the headrest area of a couch or chair; it can also refer to similar cloths used on the arms of a chair. The term comes from the practice of men slicking down their hair with macassar oil, which was in vogue during the 19th century. The oil would stain couches and chairs if slicked-down hair came into contact with the headrest, so an antimacassar cloth helped prevent those stains.
โข When the series was revived in 2002 for a 6th season Alyson Court was pregnant with her first child. Her bagy costume was used to hid her pregnancy. When the 7th and final season was made to bring the episode number up to 100 Court was taking time off to focus on raising her son and the role of Loonette was recast with Ramona Gilmour-Darling.
โข In an episode that featured sheep, Loonette says to the camera, "Radical! Sheep!" Radical Sheep is the name of the production company.
