• Jane Horrocks sang all her own songs.
• Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes directed the original London stage version of the play, titled "The Rise and Fall of Little Voice", which was written especially for Jane Horrocks.
• Billy (Ewan McGregor) did not appear in the original stage play. Writer and director Mark Herman, who had just worked with McGregor on Brassed Off (1996), liked him so much, he created the part specially for him.
