⢠The lavish production required more than one thousand costumes and up to forty hairstyles for each of the leading ladies.
⢠Elizabeth Gaskell died before completing the novel, Gaskell had told friends of the ending, only the last few minutes from the coach scene are the screenwriter's creation and very much in keeping with Gaskell's intentions.
⢠Great Chalfield Manor is used as the location for the exterior scenes for the Hamley home but the topiary in one scene is from Levens Hall. Such topiary would require an army of gardeners and is not consistent with the Hamley's being short of money.

Excellent
This series doesn't need another rave review, but
The BBC knows how to transfer Victorian novels onto the screen!
