• Fran Boyd married Donnie Andrews in 2007. Andrews was the basis for Omar Little in The Wire (2002), and David Simon introduced the two of them. Subsequently, Simon was the best man at the wedding, and it was attended by many of the stars of The Wire. A couple of articles in The New York Times tell the couple's story.
• Many actors would later appear in David Simon's next television series, The Wire (2002), often playing contrasting characters, e.g., Clarke Peters, Maria Broom, Corey Parker Robinson, Reg E. Cathey, Clayton LeBouef, Donnell Rawlings, Tootsie Duvall, Robert F. Chew, Lance Reddick, Delaney Williams, and DeAndre McCullough.
• Many actors had previously appeared in Homicide: Life on the Street (1993), which was adapted from David Simon's book, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets (1991).
