• Umesh Mehra begged the producer Pramod not to release the film on the say day as his other film Sohni Mahiwal. Umesh felt it would kill what ever chances the film had . Pramod had ego issues and did not listen to Umesh. Umesh Mehra felt he should have not remade Blue Lagoon. The concept was too alien for Indian audiences. The script was not ready and Umesh started shooting the climax in Andamans with out even knowing who the heroine was. Alisha Chinai was considered. They offered the lead role to Karan Kapoor then Sunny Deol. Both declined the film. When the screen test scenes of Ayesha were done, Jackie came along and did the test with her.. Umesh did not even consider casting Jackie in the lead part . When Hero released and became a block buster,Umesh regretted his decision of not seeing talent in Jackie Shroff.

• Mohinsh Behl mentioned in magazines that doing the film was a major mistake. He felt the audience only connected to stars with set images and seeing him with long hair wearing loin cloth went against the film.

• Jyotsna Singh of Vishwatma fame auditioned for the film .Umesh Mehta felt she was too young.
