• The film was planned as action thriller on the lines of James Bond. A major part of the film was shot abroad. But Rajshree suddenly got married and left for America, leaving a dozen films incomplete. The producer of Naina did not know what to do in this sudden situation. So then they decided to change the story into a romantic one based on "Rebecca" and retain the songs shot with Shashi Kapoor and Rajshree. Moushami Chatterjee was signed to replace Rajshree. The script was then changed to Rajshree being Shashi Kapoor's first wife so they could use the already shot songs in the film.
• Moushmi Chatterjee would refer Shashi Kapoor as uncle in real life.While they were about to shoot a romantic scene in the film Shashi Kapoor told her not to refer him as uncle but call him Shashiji or Shashi Baba.
• (1982) Sultan Ahmed wanted to remake the film "Rebecca" with Rajesh Khanna and Rameshwari. After getting their dates the project was called off.
