• A clause in Eddie Murphy's contract for doing Shrek 2 (2004) forbade him from reprising the role of Mushu in this film, therefore having his other voice actor Mark Moseley (a man best known for filling in for Murphy's characters like Mushu and Donkey in their TV and Video Game appearances) fill in for this film.

• Mulan's horse is black, but she wears the white side of the yin-yang symbol, while Shang's horse is white, but he wears the black side of the yin-yang symbol.

• In behind-the-scenes footage, when Ming-Na Wen the voice of Mulan, did the scene where Shang falls to his "death" even though he survives as we found out later in the movie, Ming-Na cried during that scene and said it was emotional to do voice acting for that scene. She also said her mother even cried when she saw Ming-Na doing the scene and said to her: "Ming-Na! Why are you crying? It's a cartoon, why cry?"
