• Hector Elizondo takes on the role of Bane, who was played regularly throughout the DC Animated Universe series by Henry Silva. This was due to Silva retiring from acting before production on the film began.
• Harvey Bullock jokingly says "what next? A bat-hound?" There actually was a character in the comics called Ace the Bat-Hound. Ace would appear in Batman Beyond (1999).
• The Batwoman costume is very similar in design to the future Bat suit used on Batman Beyond (1999). The Batwoman costume differs a bit as it is silver, has red gloves, and a cape.
