The show's animated title sequence is partly based on the "DAICON IV Opening Animation," a short film produced in 1983 for the annual Japan Science Fiction Convention by a group of animators who would later found the animation studio Gainax. Specific references include the character Miina's bunny-girl design, shots of trees and grassland covering the earth, a zoom-out shot of the solar system, and the use of Electric Light Orchestra's song "Twilight."

The "Minna" figurine cost 400,000 yen and Itoh Atsushi accidentally broke one of its ears during a take.

The businessman that subdues the old drunk in the first episode is 'Takayuki Yamada', the actor who played Atsushi Itoh(Yamada Tsuyoshi)'s character in the movie adaptation of 'Densha Otoko'.
