Storyline

The story follows Mrs Ros Pritchard, a successful manager of a supermarket. When a couple of politicians make a spectacle of themselves outside her shop, Ros decides to stand for election herself.

Did you know

• The first series ended on a cliffhanger, with the intention being that the programme would return for a second series. However this was cancelled because the first series received poor audience ratings. After its initial run in the UK, a title card was added to the final episode when it was broadcast in Canada and a few other places, but not for its PBS run in the USA. This caption said that Mrs Pritchard, feeling that she had served a purpose, resigned as Prime Minister, and that she and her husband were living happily at home with their family in Eatanswill. Catherine Walker had become Prime Minister and was successfully leading the Purple Alliance; she never married.
