⢠In the comic story the film is based on, Alberto Falcone was revealed to be, Holiday. He confesses to his Father that his new reputation as Holiday makes him much bigger than him and all the gangsters in the mob put together; Alberto then tells his father that the days of the mob controlling Gotham are over, and that "freaks" like himself will be the ones to control the city's fate from now on. Also, Gilda Dent claims that she "was" Holiday because she wanted to try to end Falcone's hold on Gotham and reduce her husband's workload so that they would have time together. She has the wild suspicion that Alberto was lying, instead choosing to believe that Dent himself had taken up the killings on New Year's Eve and that the two were finally working together, sharing secrets together. Nevertheless, she is content with Alberto as their scapegoat, knowing the authorities are incapable of finding the other Holiday killer without Dent on their side. Knowing that Dent is not really insane and can be cured, Gilda states she still believes in Harvey Dent. In the film, Glida takes the blame for being Holiday, cause she wanted revenge against Carmine Falcone for breaking up her first marriage to his Son, Alberto and forcing her to have an abortion which ruined her life. She married Dent knowing that she could set her revenge plot against Falcone. Batman doesn't take her in, leaving her fate ambiguous for now.

I'm of two minds about this film...
Interesting set up that is ultimately let down by weak writing
A great end to the mysterious storyline
