• Director and fellow actor Xavier Dolan confirmed that he was inspired by Woody Allen's film Husbands and Wives (1992) for the camera framing jerks to make it feel as if it was a documentary.

• The featured song, "BANG BANG" was originally an English language song written by Sonny Bono for his then wife Cher, but the best known English language version was sung by Nancy Sinatra. Although the music in all of the non-English versions is still what was written by Sonny Bono, there are many versions in other languages, including at least two French language versions. In each case the non-English lyrics have been re-written, and not just translated. In some cases, the meanings of the non-English lyrics are significantly different, including the version sung in this film. In the film we hear the Italian version of Bang Bang sung by singer DALIDA in 1966.

• The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard selection of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and went on to win the Regard Jeune Prize there. It also won the Sydney Film Prize at the 2010 Sydney Film Festival, as well as the Prix Spécial du Jury at the 25th Festival international du film francophone de Namur, and was nominated in the Best foreign film catagory at the 36th César Awards ceremony.
