• The film was first rated for ages 16+ in Germany arguing it would cause disorientation in sexual identity. After a public outcry the FSK (German rating system) apologized and the film was rated 12+.
• Drag Queen Cassy Carrington was originally planned to lip sync to the song "hope there's someone" by Antony & the Johnsons. The production company could not afford to license the famous track so they came up with "Poor wayfaring stranger" by Andreas Scholl.
• Lukas' birth name (first spoken on screen by Ine) was Miri, (short for Miriam (first spoken on screen by Lukas' Mutter) but by the beginning of the movie, it has been legally changed, even though Ine and Lukas' family still insist on calling him by his former name. Lukas' last name is Leonhard, when Herr Boeken refers to him as "Miss Leonhard."
