Did you know
โข The first draft of the screenplay, was written on Stephen Bryce's twenty-second birthday.
โข The movie was loosely based on Stephen Bryce's real experience, working with a promotional company that, in his words, "was more like a pyramid scheme." He was grouped with another trainee, a new hire, and an experienced employee as they went door-to-door, pressuring people into buying a long-distance plan that none of them wanted. The experienced employee was fired at the end of the day, when Bryce informed the CEO that she was also making racist remarks about Indian-Canadians that the group talked to.
โข Another inspiration for the story was an early novel by Frank Herbert, that Stephen Bryce was a fan of, but could not get the rights to adapt. While the two plots are very different from each other, some themes were borrowed from the novel, making it a "consolation prize" to the filmmakers.
