• Yash Chopra had intended to film parts of the title song "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" in the Swiss Alps, a favourite shooting location of his. However, after his death the Switzerland shoot was cancelled, as Aditya Chopra did not want to tamper with his father's vision.

• The romantic scenes of the film were directed by Yash Chopra's son Aditya Chopra to give the romance a more contemporary feel.

• The climax of the film was initially planned by Yash Chopra to be shot in Kashmir. But instead the climax was shot in Ladakh, on the suggestion of Shah Rukh Khan, whose film "Dil Se.." was shot in the area many years earlier.
