• When Dead Space 3 and Lost Planet 3 were revealed, it was commonly joked about in gaming communities that the games had traded each other their franchise. Dead Space 3 looked to become a straight action game on a snowy planet (like Lost Planet), and Lost Planet 3 looked like a claustrophobic action-horror experience (like Dead Space).

• The first letters of all the chapters spell: B-R-O-T-H-E-R-M-O-O-N-S-A-W-A-K-E

• The major cargo vessel orbiting Tau Volantis that is used early in the game to reach the planet and in the DLC, Awakened, that Isaac and Carver use to escape the planet, is named Terra Nova. This could be a reference to the research ship Terra Nova which between 1910 and 1912 carried an expedition with the same name led by Robert Falcon Scott to be the first to reach the South Pole. And tragically both events, those in the game and in history, ended with everyone part of the expedition dying in a frozen, desolate place.
