Finn wakes up in his bed with no memory of what happened the day before but with a sharp pain in his chest. Zoe, his girlfriend, is nowhere to be found, so he decides to go and look for her. But Finn discovers he is locked up in his apartment. No matter how hard he tries to open the door, it doesn't yield. And when he rips off the doorknob, the only thing he sees through the hole is darkness. Exhausted by his futile attempts to escape, Finn sits by the window and watches the city. He notices the passers-by do exactly the same things over and over again. Something is off about this place. Is he even at his own home? What is happening? He needs to know the truth. But the truth is scarier than anything he could imagine. IN PROXIMITY explores the themes of grief, life after death and the impact the development of virtual reality engineering and the transfer of human consciousness into VR can have on death and our perception of it.
