• Director Tom Gormican rewrote the entire third act during principal photography after the production lost its original finale location mid-shoot. The crew secured a replacement boatyard location in Queensland, Australia, but Cyclone Alfred destroyed the constructed set. Production designer Steven Jones-Evans rebuilt the boatyard in eight days using dilapidated boats sourced from multiple marinas. The cyclone-damaged remnants were incorporated into the final film and presented as snake destruction. Ice Cube's cameo required reworking after the location changes and cyclone destruction. The scene precedes the boatyard sequence and was adjusted to accommodate the revised finale structure.

• Director Tom Gormican approached Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal for the lead roles while working with them on The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022). Pascal expressed interest in the script but declined due to scheduling conflicts. Cage initially rejected the project, citing similarities to his meta-comedic role in the 2022 film. Following Paul Rudd's attachment to the project, Cage was approached again and requested script rewrites to darken his character and model it after Jon Voight's performance as Paul Serone in Anaconda (1997). Sony declined these revisions. Jack Black was subsequently cast in the role.

• During the scene where the characters first depart on their boat, an opened map displays Manaus, Brazil. The 1997 original film shot the majority of its river sequences on the Rio Negro near Manaus, Brazil.
