• Tommy Chong: As himself and as the surrogate actor to stand in for André Ricciardi's father, who declined to appear on film because he was a private person. Getting another actor to play Ricciardi's father was entirely Ricciardi's idea. Chong was Ricciardi's second choice to stand in for his father. Barack Obama was Ricciardi's first choice.

• Director Tony Benna and star André Ricciardi worked in advertising together, and Benna would direct ads behind which Ricciardi was the creative force. When Ricciardi was first diagnosed with colorectal cancer, he called Benna up himself and asked him to film a documentary about his cancer journey.

• André Ricciardi's brother agreed to be in this documentary, and director Tony Benna was able to interview him for a day. Ricciardi's mother was still alive during the film's production, but was suffering from dementia and could not be interviewed. Ricciardi's father, while of sound mind, was reputedly an introverted person who was so private that he wouldn't even get pizza delivered to his own house.
