• Abyzou is a female demon of miscarriages and envy with a long religious and folkloric history dating back to Mesopotamian religions, and appearing in many religions and cultures since.

• The character Justin, originally portrayed by Kris Holden-Ried, was replaced by Adam DiMarco after the film was acquired by A24. The film's title was also changed from The Undertone to Undertone.

• "Ba Ba Blacksheep" is a British nursery rhyme which first appeared in print in 1744. It is generally held to be referencing a wool tax, which meant that for every three bags of wool, one would go to the King/taxes (the "master"), one would go to the state church (the "dame"), and the third could be kept by the shepherd. The conspiracy about backwards nursery rhymes having evil meanings was created for the film.
