Unlucky "gentlemen" sell a wealthy lady, Tanya the Doll, an antique pipe, and along with it, by chance, a treasure map. Inspired by the idea of getting even richer, she sets off on a search herself, not noticing that she is being followed by scoundrels Lyokha, Fonya, Italian, and their leader, Snegir. The adventure also captivates the village boy Ostap. He seeks his luck with the help of an unusual chicken.
