Before filming, Patrick Page (Hades) ruptured his Achilles, rendering him unable to perform at full capacity. He assured fans that he would be able to perform for the recording, and that he would be working very diligently in therapy to be able to perform his very best. He and Rachel Chavkin (the director of the Broadway production) collaborated to make room for this injury. They were able to fashion a boot that went along with his character, along with a cane to help him move around on stage, and choreography and blocking were changed to best accommodate his performance.

Performance was filmed at the Lyric Theater in the West End with some of the Original Broadway Cast reprising their roles.

Includes one Tony winner (André de Shields) and three Tony nominees (Patrick Page, Eva Noblezada, and Amber Grey). All of them won or was nominated based on their performance in Hadestown.
