• Patalliro's bodyguards are known as the "Tamanegi". The term "tamanegi" means "onion", due to the onion-shaped helmets the guards wear.

• This was the first anime to prominently feature homosexuality. Even though the story is primarily a comedy, it contains themes of "shonen-ai" ("boys' love" or relationships between males) with the main focus on Bancoran and Maraich (Maraich is definitely a man, but behaves like a woman and has a feminine voice actor).

• The "Cock Robin" routine was so popular that it became a song appearing in the closing credits.
