Did you know
• James Norton leaves the show in the fourth series because he feels that his character has run its course after the end of his relationship with Amanda. He also wanted to give someone else a chance at the role, and was replaced by the newcomer Tom Brittney. Norton is engaged in other projects such as McMafia (2018) and the third series of Happy Valley (2014), and is venturing into the movie industry where he might spend some time in the United States.
• Series 2 is the first to have a series-long "B-story" beginning with the first episode and ending with the series finale.
• Grantchester itself is used for extensive filming, with the Church of St Andrew and St Mary used for the church interior and churchyard scenes. A private home in Lemsford, Hertfordshire doubles as the vicarage, while the Windmill pub in Chipperfield is used for The Red Lion.
