⢠One of the filming locations (West Princes Street, Glasgow) is a short walk from the location of another notorious murder, that of Pierre Emile L'Angelier who was poisoned with arsenic in 1857, as told in the David Lean's 1950 film Madeleine.
⢠Includes an epilogue with pictures of the real life Tim Evans, Beryl Evans and baby Geraldine. The text states: "John Christie did not confess to killing baby Geraldine. Tim Evans was awarded a posthumous Royal pardon in 1966 but his conviction was not formally quashed - he remains legally guilty. His family are still campaigning for justice."
⢠In the very first scene of the very first episode, we see Evans standing on the gallows and the hangman asks if he had any last words. This never happened, and is but a fanciful creation for the purposes of adding to the drama. Evans was hanged by Albert Pierrepoint, assisted by Syd Dernley. Both attest in their autobiographies that no such exchange took place. Unlike hanging in the US, where the crime and sentence are read out with the condemned standing with the noose around their neck, the British method of hanging was designed to be as quick as possible, indeed, Pierrepoint could enter the cell and have the condemned man or woman dead at the end of a rope within 10 seconds.
