• Is the 7th film announced by Ubisoft through their internal film studio Ubisoft Motion Pictures. Of the seven (Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, Rabbids, Far Cry, and The Division), it is only the third film to sign an actor to the starring role, after Tom Hardy in Splinter Cell, and before him, Michael Fassbender in Assassin's Creed.
• Based on the Ubisoft video game of the same name, released in March of 2016. The game made over $330 million in the first 5 days of its release, making it the most successful new franchise in video game history.
