Did you know

• The film was originally titled "Split" and the plot involved the kingdom of Lumbria splitting in two after King Solon and Queen Ellsmere's transformation. It eventually received its new title and the plot detail of Lumbria breaking in half was all but abandoned. Had the former stayed, these elements would've alluded to Solon and Ellsmere's unhappy marriage and eventual separation. Also, one of the movie's tag-lines is "Experience a twist on happily ever after", further foreshadowing the unconventional ending.

• At the beginning of the film, King Solon and Queen Ellsmere have already been turned into feral monsters. Even in Ellian's flashbacks of their human selves, they don't talk. As such, Solon and Ellsmere don't have any dialogue until the movie's halfway point.

• Second animated film Alan Menken scored to not be from Walt Disney Animation Studios, following Sausage Party (2016).
