Did you know
• The luggage tag that can be seen on Berenice's suitcase at the beginning of the climactic bathtub and staircase scenes is airport code TCS. This is for a municipal airport in the US state of New Mexico, a real city called Truth or Consequences. This is perfect framing for everything that follows.
• This is Sir Mick Jagger's first significant big screen appearance since The Man from Elysian Fields (2001). The Rolling Stones singer appeared in roughly a dozen feature films over a twenty-year period, and it had been two decades since his last movie debuted in theaters. Director Giuseppe Capotondi heard that he was looking for a return to acting and sent him the script, before they met at the rocker's office in London. Despite only appearing in two scenes, Jagger was intrigued by the story and characters, and agreed to take the part.
• Has many major differences from the source novel. For instance, the character Berenice, played by Elizabeth Debicki, only had a minor role in the book. Furthermore, in the novel it transpires that the Debney character (played by Donald Sutherland) has actually never painted anything in his entire career, despite becoming a legendary painter because of a series of positive reviews from art critics.
