Andrzej Zulawski was originally supposed to directed this film in 2016, 20 years after making his previous Polish film - "Szamanka". André Szankowski (DoP in "Cosmos") was supposed to be the cinematographer for this film. Unfortunately, Zulawski died in February 2016 and the project remained in hiatus for 2 years, before it was eventually finished by Xawery Zulawski, Andrzej's son.

The posters seen in the house of Gustaw (Daniel Olbrychski) are the posters of Andrzej Zulawski's films: "On the Silver Globe" (1987), "Fidelity" (2000) and "Cosmos" (2015). Also Zulawski's awards are clearly visible.

The film features cameos by actors and actresses who previously appeared in Andrzej Zulawski's films: Michal Grudzinski (the school director) played the roles of Marian in "The Third Part of the Night" (1971) and Ezechiel in "The Devil" (1972) and Monika Niemczyk (biology teacher) played the role of the young nun in "The Devil" (1972).
