Biography

Catherine Feller spent her early childhood in Italy. At the age of eleven, she moved to England after her parents separated and studied at the Aida Foster Theatre School for drama, dance and education. Following her graduation, she began her career as a fashion model in 1954. A year later, she made her theatrical debut at the Bristol Hippodrome and at the Lyric Theatre in London. Feller then joined the West End-based Tennent Productions Ltd. theatre company until 1955. In 1957, she played the title character in Gigi at the Windsor Repertory Company. Her later roles included Catherine in a A View from the Bridge (for the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse) and Lucy Gilham in Ladies in Retirement (at the Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon).

Feller began acting on screen in 1954, debuting with a small role in The Belles of St. Trinian's (1954). Though primarily a television actress, she is perhaps best remembered for her role in Hammer's The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), as the vintner's daughter who falls in love with Oliver Reed's lycanthrope. She appeared in several anthology drama series, including The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre (1959) and the Somerset Maugham Hour (1960), as well as guest-starring in One Step Beyond (1959), Ghost Squad (1961) and The Saint (1962). She had a recurring role as Dominique in the ITV miniseries Lillie (1978), based on the legendary Victorian stage diva Lily Langtry. She also played the wife of communist town mayor Peppone (played by Brian Blessed), the main character's rival, in the BBC adaptation of the classic comedy The Little World of Don Camillo (1981).

Feller has worked for RAI broadcasting in Italy, where she has also lectured and given courses on oratory, eloquence and conversational ability. In addition, she has worked as a translator for Vogue Gioiello, an Italian jewellery magazine. Married to the baritone Claudio Giombi, she has resided in Milan, Italy, since 2001.
