David Vanian

David Vanian (originally David Lett) grew up in Hemel Hempstead England, to parents Peter and Audrey Lett. Vanian intended to pursue a career in graphic design, but instead worked as a grave digger at Heath Lane Cemetery for around 2 years. Vanian was invited to join the Damned inn 1976 as their singer after working briefly with Rat Scabies in a previous band. He sang with the punk/goth group The Damned until 1995 when the band split, but later reformed two years later. He has been the singer ever since. Vanian also founded the side projects Naz Nomad and the Nightmares and Dave Vanian and The Phantom Chords with the help of Roman Jugg, and Bryn Merrick. Vanian has also written the film soundtrack for "The Perfect Sleep", as well as co-wrote the song "Dead Beat Dance" which appeared in the movie Return of the Living Dead. He has released a multitude of phenomenal musical works, and continues to perform with The Damned.
