René G. Boscio is an LA-based Puerto Rican composer best known for his unique blend of acoustic Latino instruments with modern, experimental electronics. He most recently scored the Magnolia Pictures film,
Lake George (2024), starring
Carrie Coon and
Shea Whigham, which was directed by
Jeffrey Reiner.
A member of The Academy's music branch, René has composed music for a variety of projects ranging from psychological thrillers to dramas, comedies and more. In 2022 he crafted an original score for the Amazon Studios thriller comedy,
Emergency (2022). Directed by
Carey Williams and produced by Temple Hill Entertainment,
Emergency (2022) premiered opening night at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival as part of the U.S. Dramatic Competition. Previously, he also composed the music for the Freeform mystery thriller series,
The Watchful Eye (2023), produced by ABC Signature and Ryan Seacrest Productions. Up next, his music can be heard in the Apple TV+ series,
Murderbot (2025), and the Amazon show,
Countdown (2025), where he composed additional music.
René began his career in music over 20 years ago in his hometown of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. He graduated college from the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico with a degree in music theory and classical composition. In 2013, he moved to Los Angeles and has since contributed music to over 100 episodes of television series including
Riverdale (2017),
Blindspot (2015), and
Love, Death & Robots (2019), as well as synth programming on projects like Marvel's
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), and Amazon's
Reacher (2022).
