Did you know
⢠The real John Paul Jones' birth name was John Paul. He added the name "Jones" to avoid prosecution after he was accused of killing a seaman over a wage dispute.
⢠Robert Stack says in his autobiography that the shooting in the deep Spanish summer heat was very hard to bear for the crew, because of the heavy suits and uniforms they wore. Also, the final battleship sequence took place near the coastline, very close to an area that served as one of the main outlets of the sewage system; the stuntmen who jumped into the water had to hold their noses.
⢠This was John Farrow's final film before his death on January 27, 1963, at the age of 58.
