• Jeremy Sisto is actually a practicing Buddhist due to his father, though he grew up having Roman Catholic faith.
• Sir Gary Oldman was initially offered the role of the male Satan. He turned it down, but asked for a different role which turned out to be Pontius Pilate. The role of Satan (male counterpart) ultimately went to Jeroen Krabbé.
• Evangelist John MacArthur has criticized the series for it's lack of authenticity and unrealistic crucifixion scene as a Jew from the crowd (not dressed as a Roman) nails Jesus to the cross. This was also a big problem with the mini series Jesus of Nazareth.
